Birdy – ‘Words’ (Blonde remix)

After the recent success of their hit with Craig David, ‘Nothing Like This’, UK DJ/production duo Blonde aka Jacob Manson & Adam Englefield have gone on to remix ‘Words’ by the much-loved teenage sensation Birdy.

Since forming in Bristol after first meeting online, Blonde’s focus has been targeted at creating masterful club anthems. Their reputation developed with the initial FFRR singles ‘Higher Ground’ and ‘Foolish’  as they hit #1 at HypeM and earned extensive Radio 1 support from MistaJam, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Huw Stephens, B. Traits, Phil & Alice and Rob Da Bank. In contrast to the original’s melancholic feel, Blonde have given ‘Words’ an upbeat makeover. Birdy’s vocals are slightly pitched up over upbeat piano chords and strings and a danceable beat for a summery take on the record.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
