One of the worst kept secrets in Manchester was finally out to everyone when enigmatic Houndstooth duo Akkord  revealed their identities just a year after bursting onto the scene under their anonymous joint moniker. For those of you who live outside the confines of the rainy city the pairing consists of two of the Norths’ rising stars in Synkro and fellow Mancunian Indigo.

We were hopeful that the unveiling of the names of the artists involved in the project wouldn’t see the pair cease to operate as a twosome as we  had greatly enjoyed their opening gambit ‘Navigate’ on Fabric sub label Houndstooth were then excited to share the duos excellent eponymous debut album in full last year.

Now the pairing have revealed plans to return as Akkord for 2014 with the release of a new four track EP on Houndstooth entitled HTH020.

Billed as “pairing monumental low-end frequencies with surgically precise production”  we literally cannot wait to hear the EP in its entirety when it lands on June 16. Until then however we’ll have to make do with the lead single of the release ‘Continuum’ which you can check out below.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
