Actress To Star In Movie

We can think of few albums that have managed generate as much hype as Actress’ ‘Ghettoville’ did without a huge and expensively assembled PR machine rolling behind it. But then again Actress isn’t exactly like most other artists with the enigmatic producer ostensibly shunning the limelight and preferring to let his music do the talking. But how about his acting? It appears the usually publicity shy Mr. Cunningham may be living up to his musical namesake with him trading the studio for the movie set in a new film production of a play set to run at London’s Young Vic this summer.

The news was first revealed via the theatres web page before being hastily withdrawn but not before being spotted by the eagle eyed writing team here at DT who can’t wait to find out further details as the project progresses.

Whilst the motivation for the Werk Disc’s boss participation within the adaptation typically remains shrouded in mystery and will come without any warning or fanfare what we can reveal is that the play is entitled Honest Jon; with rumours swirling that the work is a semi-historical piece charting the early days of legendary Portobello Road record shop of the same name which opened in 1974 before it went on to form a record label with help from Damon Albarn in 2002. Quite what he does next after appearing on the silver screen we’ve no idea but we’re confident that whatever he decides to turn his hand to the very talented Actress will come up trumps again and we are glad to see him add yet another string to his already more than distinguished bow.

Now where did we leave the popcorn?

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
