Primavera Sound reveals the line-up for its forthcoming edition.
The programme of events will take place mainly in the Parc del Fòrum of Barcelona from Wednesday 1st to Saturday 4th June and will be complemented by a large number of concerts in various sites in the Raval neighbourhood, which means that music will be on offer for the whole week. More than 150 bands and artists that will dazzle audiences and complete the outstanding offer with a multitude of genres in which there will be something for everyone.
The stage comeback of the New York group LCD Soundsystem, fronted by James Murphy, the return to the festival of the Tame Impala, from Australia, at the height of their career and the dreamy, experimental rock from the Icelandic band Sigur Rós are the most prominent names in the star-studded line-up. The retro futurist pop from the French duo Air are joined by a wide range of figures from one of the most creative genres of the moment: hip hop. Pusha T presenting his excellent new record, Action Bronson from New York, Vince Staples (critically acclaimed last year for his album “Summertime ‘06”), Street rap by Freddie Gibbs, punk-tinged hip hop by the adrenalin-fused Ho99o9 and Jay Rock, one of the West Coast stars of the moment, will be some of the representatives who will visit the Parc del Fòrum.
The electronic section is headed by the German superband Moderat, presenting their new album, the live rendition of “Elaenia” by Floating Points, Hendrik Weber’s project Pantha du Prince and Kiasmos, the duo formed by Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen in which they give free rein to their definition of dance music. The DJs at this edition go from the Maceo Plex’s 4/4 to DJ Koze and DJ Richard and the wild rhythms of Hudson Mohawke, passing through that style-blender from Glasgow called Optimo (Espacio). On the more experimental side of things Evian Christ, Alessandro Cortini, collaborator of Nine Inch Nails, and Holly Herndon stand out. Not to mention the electro funk by DâM-FunK and the pioneers of electronic music Cabaret Voltaire.
