Lakeway drops ‘No Escape’ EP on Unchained

Liam Ralph, aka Lakeway, comes from a generation that isn’t locked to the notion of purism in Drum and Bass and his work has always been a component part of UK musical innovation. With his debut ‘No Escape’ EP on Unchained Recordings, we see him now push through and beyond Version 2.0 of his artistic career.

Drawing on the influences of Footwork, Jungle, Trance, Dubstep, Grime and more, the EP is a murderous and clever fusion of elements built around the 170 DnB axis. A release that promises to possibly be one of his very finest pieces of work to date.

Murderous drops, nostalgic breakdowns and singing acid-burnt synths are brought together with an avalanche of underground rhythms, making this both for peak time club and rich fodder for collectors of alternative electronic.

Three tracks, ‘Lighter,’ ‘Unrequited Dub,’ and ‘All Massive All Crew’ attain this almost impossible fusion of a true big-room club sound with the anarchist individualism of flippant experimentation. Each one is an unapologetic BANGER.

For the final track, ‘No Escape,’ Lakeway teams up with PAV4N to record an introspective half-grime masterpiece that explores a totally new side of their creativity.
