Unchained Recordings is Southern Chinas’s biggest force in the bass music scene. Throughout its history, the label has been pushing and championing experimental beatmakers from all over the globe but sick emerging talents from China as well!
If last years ‘The Year Of The Rat’ compilation wasn’t enough for the bass-hungry party people their latest offering is one for the book. With ‘The Year Of The Ox’ Unchained Recordings are kicking off 2021 in style.
Subp Yao, hailing from the hustling and bustling Netherlands, is one of the European scene’s most colourful producers. Even more so an important cog within the grinding wheel of the ever-developing bass music machine. In terms of genres, we can see the producer dabbling in a vast range of moods enriched with dirt-ridden beats and halftime aesthetics but also ecstatic, eclectic mutations of body music, footwork and leftfield bass. With a long list of releases on groundbreaking labels like Saturate Records, Flexout Audio, Division plus obviously Unchained and sick collaborations with the likes of Addison Groove, Dayle or the unforgotten Razat under his belt, there seems to be no stopping for the Dutch producer! His previous works for MethLab and Unchained Recordings as well as his solo LP ‘Infra Aqual’ on YUKU and an album under his collab project, YAYAYA on Daedelus’ label Magical Properties, all share a common thread… deep body music that makes you wanna move.
With ‘Tricks‘ Subp Yao bridges the gap between artistic freedom and adapting to a certain labels sound. He’s perfectly presenting his sonic with a fierce body-mover en passant. It’s got gnarly bass, it’s got deep subs n wubs and it’s rough as hell.
