Kolectiv & Mauoq collab on ‘Political’ EP on Rebel Music

Kolectiv and Mauoq drop their collaborative EP entitled ‘Political’ on Rebel Music on Friday 28th May. The longtime friends have joined forces for this four-tracker which covers a whole range of sounds.

The bluesy, jazzed out stylings of the opening track ‘Deep Inside’ kicks the EP off and features the elegant vocals of Roxi Yung. Next up is the title track ‘Political’ which is a no-nonsense dance-floor escapade sure to give any bass bin a solid test. ‘So Fine’ follows and is a stripped back progressive stepper, sprinkled with distorted bass and melancholic chords. Rounding off the release is ‘Data Vibe’, which showcases the trios halftime work. Deep atmospherics, grooves and intricate breaks are all shown in abundance.

Kolectiv, aka Simon Cordell and Kerim Serter, are a London based duo. They have been honing their sound and direction since they originally formed as a production quartet in 2011. Since their Scientia Recordings debut, their forward-thinking approach to production has earned them recognition from household labels such as Dispatch Recordings, Fokuz (including offshoots Celsius and Citrus Recordings), Vandal Records and Horizons, as well as younger outfits such as Lockdown Recordings, Flexout Audio, Plasma Audio, Proximity Recordings, Nurtured Beatz and of course Rebel Music.

They have risen to every challenge they’ve been set and their releases continue to improve with every release. If they continue to grow in the way in which they are, they are going to go on to great things!

Mauoq (born Mauro Campana) is a London based DJ/Producer originally from Rome, Italy.

After a few years spent in the early 90s playing italo-house and techno at student parties in Italy, he fell in love with the bass-rich breakbeat sound coming from the UK in the middle of the decade. Since then he has always pushed the deepest and grooviest side of the Drum & Bass spectrum and at the beginning of the new millennium, he moved to London. Exposed to Dubstep a few years later, its dub-tinged sounds definitely caught his attention and redefined his Drum & Bass taste too. Less is more!
