DJ Rap Steps Through Sacha Robotti’s ‘Looking Through The Glass’ For A Liquid Drum & Bass Rework

Some collaborations just make sense. Sacha Robotti today unveils the first official remix from his debut album ‘I, ROBOTTI’, and he’s handed the reins to a genuine icon. British pioneer DJ Rap takes ‘Looking Through The Glass’ and drags it somewhere deeper, rebuilding their collaborative cut as a rolling slice of liquid Drum & Bass.

This one runs in the blood. DJ Rap has been shaping the sound since the early days, one of the true originators who helped push Jungle and Drum & Bass out of the basements and into the wider world. Splitting her life between the US and England, forever moving between jungle and house, she knows all about living in two places at once. That tension is exactly what ‘Looking Through The Glass’ was built on, and it’s exactly what her remix channels.

So what does it sound like? Business. She keeps those ethereal vocals floating up top, then lets the low end do the heavy lifting underneath. Rolling breakbeats, lush atmospherics, weighty bass pressure that fills the room. In DJ Rap’s own words: “I wrote ‘Looking Through the Glass’ while dividing my life between the USA and England, producing and playing both jungle and house. I was living between two countries, two cultures and two sounds. For me, this song is about duality.”
