Aaron Payne drops ‘It’s Over Now’ on 4NC¥: DarkMode


Aaron Payne is back on 4NC¥: DarkMode, with two fresh cuts, An agitated roller followed by a soulful yet bitter-sweet reprise. The titled track ‘It’s Over Now’ features the soulful vocals of Frank H Carter III, which will have you pressing rewind again and again.

Frank H. Carter III is an American singer, songwriter and recording artist born and raised in Norfolk, VA. Frank’s voice can be heard across many genres, when it comes to Drum & Bass he’s worked with icons such as Ivy Lab, Riya, Logistics, BCee and more, on labels such as Critical, Metalheadz, Hospital and Spearhead.

From mixtapes to all aged raves, to buying records, since getting behind the decks in 2008 Aaron Payne has shared the stage with the likes of Andy C, DJ Hype, Matrix & Futurebound, Dimension, Fred V & Grafix, Metrik, Nu:Tone, Breakage, Delta Heavy, Culture Shock, DJ Hazard, TC, Ownglow, 1991, Phibes, Ray Keith, Mob Tactics, Benny Page, Ed Solo, Deekline, Harry Shotta and more.

The next chapter started in 2014 when he started promoting as DNA Selections, bringing international talents such as Rockwell, Voltage, Saxxon, Stickybuds, DJ Craze, and The Freestylers.

In 2015 he moved to Vancouver with the skills, library, passion and personality to effortlessly find his place in the local scene. First playing shows for Digital Motion, SHAHdjs, Future Soul and Whistler Junglists, then starting a company with a good friend as 170+ Productions, bringing a needed focus to a new generation of local
selectors. With 4 years under their belt, 170+ has become a household name in the local Drum & Bass scene, whilst breaking into the international market by booking RoyGreen & Protone, Mob Tactics, Ray Keith and Redeyes.

2021 saw the birth of 170+ Recordings which was merely a dream first talked about at the inception of the brand. With several releases and plenty more to come, this next chapter is proving to be something special for the West Coast scene, providing a platform and shining a light on the many hidden talents and established artists Canada has to offer. 2022 sees their first international artist release and the future is looking bright for the label.

Aaron has become a respected player in both Canada’s East and West, with an appreciation of Drum & Bass’ full range of sounds and the genuine love it takes to persevere and play to any crowd and any moment.

Most recently Payne has shifted focus to production and although he is still in the early days of making music he has landed several releases on a handful of respected labels including Program, 4NCY: DarkMode, Influenza, Deviant Audio and In The Lab Recordings.
