Share

In celebration of 3 years of Understated present the second compilation from the All of U|S series. The series ties in with their 3-year anniversary party on January 31st, 2020, in their beloved home of Los Angeles.

VOL / 002 features 20 warehouse and club-ready tracks from some of the finest the LA underground has to offer. This includes music from some talented friends from different corners of the world that we’ve picked up along the way.

From the twenty tracks, we premiere Roukin’s ‘Pick and Click’ for you today. Roukin is a truly exciting and fresh talent in the House Music scene. In his short time in Los Angeles, he has become resident DJ at Avalon, Hollywood, whilst also establishing himself firmly on the underground scene. He has a tribe of fans built initially from his acting career, who is now enjoying his original passion.

He said about the track “‘Pick and Click’ could easily have been called ‘Layers’ Or ‘Don’t Hesitate’. I wanted to make a track where I didn’t labour too much on each element but rather, as soon a sound or melody came to me, just layer it in without judgement and then drill down on everything later in the process. I am so inspired by the groove of tracks on labels like Dirtybird, Box of Cats, Viva, and This Ain’t Bristol, and at the time I was playing a lot of tracks from those labels, so that’s where my head was at musically. I am so happy with how it turned out and of course where it found a home. It represents a super creative week for me in the studio.”

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
