Steve Lawler lands on Griffintown Records with his ‘Karma’ EP

Share

Tech house titan Steve Lawler lands on Griffintown Records with a razor-sharp new single ‘Karma’ that comes with two remixes by Russian talent Tripmastaz.

Lawler has long been a pivotal player in the underground as a DJ, producer and label head at ViVA. He has a timeless sound exemplified here by Karma. Over the course of seven scintillating minutes, it locks you into a groove with crisp kicks and icy hi-hats. The bass is warm and the spaced-out synths weave in and out to hypnotic fashion.

Tripmastaz then steps up with an ‘Olds Koolie’ Remix that strips things back to the bubbling bass and rubbery kicks. It’s heavy but elastic, and as the mood builds the perc gets tougher to really make its mark. The EP closes with his Mini Maxi Dub which is fat and fleshy, with trippy sci-fi details and another infectious groove.

This is a fresh EP of well crafted and essential tech house.
