Jim Rider releases debut EP ‘Unstuck’

After a strong start to his solo career with “Flasher” on Toolroom’s ADE sampler and “Warm” on a Flashmob Records VA both in late 2017, Jim Rider releases his first full EP titled “Unstuck” on Monique Musique. Celebrating its 10th year, the Canadian label has housed the likes of Martin Buttrich, Nicole Moudaber, Carlo Lio and Butch.

As the UK moves out of a snowy snap, we premiere the lead track “Unstuck”, which is a slice of summer, a real builder with a deep pulsating bassline, understated chords, a twinkling topline and a cowbell guaranteed to warm you up.

The B-Side “Peaky” harks back to Jim’s Brummie roots and samples leader of the Peaky Blinder pack Tommy Shelby. It’s a much darker, acid-tinged cut with a percussive edge. Sparse vocal hits and synth stabs provide the ear candy over a relentless bassline. A solid debut EP, Jim Rider is one to keep an eye on!

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
