Josh Butler and his Origins imprint fire themselves into 2023 with a bang, as they unleash the new release from the UK’s Brett Gould titled ‘Black Light’ which features Penny F and they do not disappoint.

Having been given the nod from DJ Mag, Mixmag and Pete Tong, and playing with the likes of Sasha, M.A.N.D.Y, Eats Everything, Franky Rizardo, Prok : Fitch, and Mark Fanciulli, you know that this release from Brett Gould will be classy before even hearing a beat. Brett has been dropping fierce releases on labels such as Solid Grooves, Realm, Sola, Snatch! and many more.

For his first release on Origins, he drops a two-tracker of the utmost quality. The lead and title track is ‘Black Light’ which features the sensuous vocals of Penny F. This low-slung deep roller grabs you from the outset with its warm sub bass picking you up and carrying you off into the groove. Gould then adds intensity through tonal synths with Penny F’s iconic vocal cutting by delivering a track that will have people drifting off into the dark in clubs over the coming months.

On the flip side is ’Blame The Beep’ which kicks in with a swinging house beat to get you shaking those hips, as the effortless bassline lifts you further. To give this its identity he adds some crazy tripped-out beeps into the mix and works everything together to deliver a classy banger that will get Brett Gould and Origins’ 2023 underway in style…

We premiere ‘Black Light’ on Data Transmission, check it out here and grab it on Beatport.
