It’s always great to encounter a talent who’s been around for a while then delivers their killer blow. Israel’s Nir Shoshani has been causing ripples with his multi-tiered brand of haunted tech-house throb, further brought to the boil on his latest EP by input from illustrious Soma veteran Funk D’Void and Roland M. Dill.
The title cut rides ghostly keys and voices into escalating pressure cooker chaos, lethal dynamics (and fetching electronic moose call) stoking the edgy vibe which continues through ‘Scorpio’s Theme’. here, climactic chords cut through, oddly conjuring the old school hoover sound clipped into the 21st century over funked up beats (mutant voices returning). ‘Sinai’ whips up a grunting rattler topped with Eastern melodies and sonic slashes, again imbued with his trademark whispery shuffle.
The set’s about to reappear with remixes from Agaric, Jay Tripwire and @Muzarco. One to watch for this summer.
