Label: Disc Over Score: 8/10
Disc Over Music is a new label run by UK house stalwart Tim Green. It debuted late 2013 and kicks off again in 2104 with a new three track release from Luca Lozano & Mr Ho. Luca Lozano is the boss of Klasse Recordings and released his full-length album to great acclaim last year. Here he teams up with newcomer Mr Ho to great effect.
Up first is ‘Dobb Meep’, a deep and stripped back bit of house music with odd melodic hooks, rich synth patterns and plenty of analogue roughness at its heart. It’s a truly moody bit of house music that gets remixed by Tim Green into something much more melodic but just as loose limbed and groovy. Here the Brit showcases his fine grasp of melody by layering in many different shades and timbres, as well as an epic breakdown. The B-side is the even more stripped back, grainy and grey scale track that is ‘Different Circles’. This one is all scrappy percussion, dystopian synth stabs and gurgling basslines. It’s delightfully dark and makes for perfect warehouse style listening and Upon You & Souvenir man Nicson, who is next in line on this label, also turns in fine a remix of ‘Different Circles’. Just two releases in and this label is already standing out from the crowd.
