US born, Czech based producer Hybris is up next on Dispatch’s seemingly unstoppable run of music at the moment, delivering four cuts on his Gravitron EP.
Known for his intricate drum programming, Hybris’ title track Gravitron provides this in abundance. Clicky and snappy percussion is wrapped up in layers of dirty deep sub bass; it’s resonant pads providing a light in the dark to this precise piece of tech step. Understand Now teams a filtered vocal sample with some minimal drums and sci-fi laser synths. Losing It is a seriously gritty roller, the drums hit a little harder and the lead line is growly as fuck. The rewind button was hit more than a few times on this one. Closing it out is Uproot, which feels like jungle music propelled into the future. It’s dark and rumbling low bass notes teams with some heavy drums. Reminds me a little bit of Machines by Enei but that’s a warranted comparison not just in sound but also in the fact that was a top tune as well.
If you like your beats technical then Gravitron has got everything you need.
