Circus comes to town on Friday 27th July and will run from 22:00 – 11:00 with boss man, Yousef playing alongside Bookashade, Uto Karem, Gel Abril and welcoming the London debut of David Glass. Continuing with the ethos of bringing the best in underground House and Techno to the capital, Yousef is relentless in his quest to ensure those standards are kept at the highest level. Last months event with Paul Ritch and Noir weaving their magic behind the booth, caused mystical mayhem on the dancefloor with Yousef doing what he does best and smashing that floor to pieces. Heads down and dancing was the order of the day with just enough big moments to come up for air and revel in the warmness of the deep throbbing sound system being controlled by the trio.

July sees Yousef once again selecting a mixture of familiar alongside brand spanking new talent. Since its inception 10 years ago Yousef has been adamant that Circus events and the label are to help nurture and develop new talent, giving them room to be unique, develop their own style with the love and support of the Circus family around them. In at the deep end, Circus Ldn welcome Booka Shade providing their take on rich electronica. Behind some of the biggest releases on the Get Physical label Walter Merziger and Amo Kammermeier know what buttons to push when working a dancefloor, and we are not referring to a sync one! Studio masterminds for over 15 years they are armed with the experience and depth of knowledge to work the club like a sonic depth charge. Italian DJ, producer and label owner, Uto Karem also joins the musical melee. His informative years where spent in London soaking up music from bands and acts such as New Order, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell then Underground Resistance, Novamute and Plus 8 upon returning to Italy in his teenage years, a broad palate to paint from later in life, wouldn’t you agree? He currently runs his own imprint, Agile Recordings and balances his love of high energy tracks infused with machine made sonics and underlying soulful grooves. And reinforcing the Circus ethos of presenting new talent, David Glass steps up to make his London debut. Having released his debut EP on Circus back in January. Yousef adds “David has been a regular on the Circus dance floors for many years. He passed me some of his music and I begun to keep an eye on him and his productions. His track ‘Hood Chicks’ really got my attention with plays from Loco Dice so I asked him if he wanted to do a 4 track EP for Circus Recordings which became a great success with plays from Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Marco Carola, DJ Sneak and endless more. He’s built a solid following and plays for us regularly at Circus in Liverpool and this will be his DJ debut in London. He is a growing talent and part of the next generation of Circus Recordings artists”. Talking about the new age of techno, Gel Abril a.k.a Roy Brizman’s name has been undoubtedly one of the most presents names on the underground movement lips. Debuting with Remix’s for Shlomi Aber – on labels such as ‘Ovum’ (Freakside) and ‘Renaissance’ (Moods), Gel started building his own profile with original material for his home based label: Be As One Imprint.
