Spotlight Mix: Thomas B
Thomas Brinson aka Thomas B is a DJ and producer with over two decades of experience in the bass music scene.
From his early days promoting events in the world-renowned rave scene of New York in the mid-90s to putting his current home of Tucson, Arizona on the map for dance music in the United States, Thomas is a true champion for the music he loves.
Thomas’ journey as a DJ has seen him become an integral part of the Arizona music scene. As 1/3 of the group AZ-One in the early 2000s (under his old moniker Tarzan), he played some of the largest dance music events in Arizona such as Earthdance and Reflections and has been a major organizer in many weekly and monthly club events since then. A Thomas B set is one that travels the scope of modern dance music, proving why he is at the forefront – you’ll hear everything from drum and bass, footwork, 2-step and garage, all mixed surgically along with fast-paced scratching and turntable mastery.
In 2013 he decided to raise the stakes higher and head into the world of production, and the results have been exciting. He teamed up with fellow Tucsonan Ghast that year to create the Bone Dance LP for Quentin Hiatus’ Free Love Digi (FLD) imprint. More releases followed with back-to-back EPs on FLD and Plush Recordings and an appearance on the second volume of the Lowrise Sounds compilation, and in September of 2016 his Endling EP with Ghast became his breakout release, receiving international support and praise from DJ Mag Spain, Magnetic Magazine, and gaining him an interview with Drum & Bass Arena.
