Devon James joins the Spotlight Mix series

Incredible versatility behind the decks, impeccable prowess in the studio and unbridled passion for creating and exposing new art. All three of these things come to mind when you hear the name, Devon James.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts to a family deeply rooted in music that flouts the mainstream, it is no surprise that Devon is now one of the most influential and recognized names in the underground dance music industry. His undeniable style and his increasingly impressive DJ skills have landed him spots playing alongside legendary artists including Kerri Chandler, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Moodymann, as well as modern icons like Chris Lake, Mija, Diplo and even a 3-hour B2B2B with Skream and Dennis Ferrer.

Although his sets are always the highlight of the evening, DJing is hardly the limit of Devon’s awe-inspiring musical talent. Devon James has become one of the most well-versed producers and studio engineers in the game. With releases on W+O Street, Tracks, Country Club Disco, SOUP and Audiophile XXL, and studio credit on 8 of the 11 tracks on Felix Da Housecat’s “Thee Narrative of Thee Blast Illusion,” there is no task Devon James can’t tackle.

Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, James is still expanding his influence in the arts, particularly in underground dance music. Devon is the active label manager for Golf Clap’s Country Club Disco and co-founder of RVDIOVCTIVE, a multi-media artist collective that curates event across the county.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
