Donato Dozzy is a well regarded Italian DJ and producer who is known for his mature and slow burning sounds. From ambient to dub to techno he records as Voice From the Lake – and also plays live – and as Aquaplano, but here he goes it alone with a new, more club focussed release on Claque Musique. It features two cuts that are completely different from each other, and from much of the music that is out there at the moment.
Cassandra is first up and is a deep, seductive house track with rolling drums and lots of hugely well chilled sounds. The hi hats are icy, the pads are lush and the synth chords are fat and globular, adding weight and harmony to the track. It’s one for the dead of night, as it rolls and rolls uninterrupted on a warm and organic rhythm. On the flip is a playful bit of experimenting. It is a beatless track that simply toys with what sounds like a didgeridoo and has it coated in oodles of reverb. One to use to fork out audiences and jolt them from their reverie, it rounds out a fine EP.
