A brand new chapter has begun as we see the launch of Sonication. Formerly on behalf of Bally & Boom, the London-based DJ and producer is known for his high-paced Drum & Bass DJ sets.
Not being one to pigeonhole himself into one style of Drum & Bass, Sonication also reflects this in his production style. Before his new journey began he racked up a lot of support from many artists including High Contrast and Ray Keith accompanied by plays on BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM and BBC Introducing.
I’m excited to share a new mix from Sonication which will hopefully put him on your radar. The mix is a real journey and includes some wicked tracks from the likes of himself, Georgie Riot, TC, DJ Rap, Moving Fusion, Koven, Sub Focus, Krakota, S.P.Y, Dillinja, Andy C & Shimon, High Contrast and loads more.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Easily Georgie Riot – Do it Major featuring Toddlah. It ticks all the boxes of what I look for in a DNB track, it’s forthcoming on Riot Records very soon!
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
I would say diversity. I always try and take snippets from every element of Drum & Bass and Jungle in my shows, then ensure the chosen elements range over its entire 30-year span.
Tell us about your next EP?
So I have an EP in the pipeline with a great well established label. I still haven’t completed it yet so there’s no date in the diary as it stands, but it will be this year. I’ve just released my debut single as Sonication, It’s called “If I Could” which features in this mix and is available on all the usual platforms.
What have you got coming up?
My next release is I think the best track I’ve ever written and I’m very excited to share it as a lot of work has gone into it. The artist and their label that have signed it have been very supportive and are equally as keen to get it out there, so look out for “Let It Rain” in the spring!!!!
When was the last time you actually raved?
As I get older, I’ve found it’s harder to get to raves when you’re not performing. But I recently went to watch Chase & Status on a Thursday night in a little intimate venue in West London. It was fantastic, I took a little stroll up from my house just 10 mins away and just stood at the back and took it all in, then toddled home. I’m looking forward to Dimension LIVE at Brixton academy in a few weeks and WAH at Printworks soon after.
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Have a positive and prosperous year! Get to as many raves as possible and get there early to support the opening acts.
