Renegade Riddims: Ore

Ore is a Leipzig based DJ and producer. He started out his musical journey as a minimal/house DJ, however, he is now refocusing on 90s-influenced Jungle and Drum & Bass. Digging through music for over a decade, he found a deep connection and love in this particular genre.

Like other artists, Covid and the pandemic changed a lot in terms of being present in the clubbing scene, where he was hosting own parties in Leipzig with the Zeitraum Crew or Kollektiv Wellness.

Times are rough, but music is here to help. That’s why Ore is keen on giving some good vibes to the community by spreading the word of Jungle and Jungley Drum & Bass. Upcoming releases are expected to come from him soon, so watch this space!

Being an old skool junglist myself, when Ore sent me a mix he’d done, I was keen to listen. What I heard was a great selection of tracks, mixed and blended with expertise. It was also quite refreshing to receive a mix that wasn’t choppy and where the tunes were let to breathe and play through. Don’t get me wrong I love quickly mixed in tracks but sometimes I just want to hear the music as it was created to be heard.

Music featured on the mix comes from the likes of himself, Coco Bryce, WDDS, Denham Audio, Arcane and more!

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

This mix is pure love for the original jungle sound.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

Forest Drive West – Jungle Crack

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Lots of appreciation for the genre and the community.

Tell us about your next EP?

I will release a jungle-infused breakbeat track (called Stay Hydrated) on the upcoming third Vaertism Sampler by the end of November.

What have you got coming up?

Constantly working on some jungle tracks, so I can release more stuff in the near future.

When was the last time you actually raved?

A couple of weeks ago I went to a dnb event in my town Leipzig, organized by Fat Bemme and Boundless Beatz. Since those parties are kind of rare, I really enjoyed the energy coming from the genre, the DJs and the people dancing like there is no tomorrow.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Spread the love on the dancefloor and from behind the decks. Use the power of music to connect to fellow humans, no matter what.
