DT845 – Lex Luca

Share

Lex Luca is one of house music’s most prolific and consistent electronic artists.

Regular support from scene heavyweights from Annie Mac through to Pete Tong & Mark Knight, Jamie Jones, Claude von Stroke, Richy Ahmed to Riva Starr are testament to his high production values, while a steady stream of releases on labels like Snatch!, Desert Hearts, Cr2 and his own In Tune imprint across house, tech and tribal are testament to his relentlessness work ethic and creativity.

2022 saw the release of Luca’s biggest track to date, the appropriately-titled Exposure on Riva Starr’s Snatch!; a track which was lauded by AAA names including Groove Armada, Laurent Garnier and Nicole Moudaber, and was hammered by both Pete Tong and Danny Howard on Radio 1, going on to be one of the label’s biggest successes of the year.

Today, he joins us on the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…

Quality house music with great grooves, soul and high energy!

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

You’re making me pick a favourite?

I guess picking one of mine would be a cop-out, so I’d say the FEX – Heavenly (Dark Dub Mix) – love the energy and musicality on this – it’s got a hint of Man With The Red Face which is always a good thing.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

It’s a selection of some of the great music around right now. The special ingredient is my own secret sauce that I bring to my DJ sets.

Tell us about your next EP?

My I Think I Did It EP is a tribal infused EP. Two tracks on it

The lead track has a great bounce and groove to it, with a cool vocal sample that

The B-side What’s This is has more of a rolling tribal-tech vibe. The female vocal sample gives it an. I’m excited to be releasing this EP on my In Tune imprint and really happy with the support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Nic Fanciulli & Steve Lawler.

What have you got coming up?

I’ve got a track coming on Trutopia’s Night Mayors label and a track on Junior Sanchez’ Brobot coming soon. I’ve also got another EP from me too!

And my OpenDAW Talks podcast launches next week with Felix from Basement Jaxx. I’ll be speaking with your favourite music makers about their jounrey to success.  You’ll hear a whole host of tips and tricks from seasoned professionals to help you move forward with your music.  Check it out here lnk.to/OpenDAWTalks

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
