NUDE125: Behind Bars

Berlin-based DJ Behind Bars presents his My Body EP — an intense techno monolith consisting of two sweaty and darkly layered productions. The EP is charged with pulsating energy that is on the verge of a meltdown. My Body showcases subtle rave character and driving rhythms that take you on a dark trip through the night alongside unleashed and untold strength.

This time, Behind gets candid about finding freedom through techno, how it has shaped him today, and what to look forward to regarding his projects for the rest of the year.

Today, he joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Stirring things up while keeping the groove. Love to improvise.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
They are all my personal favorites, that’s why they made it in the mix! But the Rizi Lee track (Above is below) got stuck in my head (even dreamed about it the night after I recorded the set). It was also the track that sparked the initial idea for the set.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
There is one. But I think it’s much more fun if people find it out by themselves.

Tell us about your next EP?
So I have a follow-up of my My Body EP coming that further develops the concept, as well as a hardware-focused EP following a more minimalistic approach. Excited for it!

What have you got coming up?
Well, hopefully, a long long summer in Berlin, as well as maybe some rainy days to make the studio time more cozy. Would love to DJ a bit more going into autumn, but at this point focusing mostly on my productions!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
In terms of techno and in general: stay open and try not to think too much in categories. New connections and opportunities will appear where ever you look!

A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
