NUDE083: Rebel Boy

Share

Rebel Boy is an American techno artist from Los Angeles who is a resident at the city’s No.1 nightclub Exchange LA. Originally starting his career as a trance DJ, he has always been a fan of percussion-driven/harder sounds, so naturally, his style became more tech-focused until eventually making the full switchover to techno.

More than just a talented DJ, he is also an expertly skilled producer who has recently dropped a solo release on Spektre’s Respekt, which he soon followed up with a collaborative EP on UMEK’s 1605.

The two-track release on 1605 is called “Psalm 39 EP” and it’s made in collaboration with Atlanta based Sam WOLFE. Rebel Boy is one of the most exciting new techno talents out there right now, and we are super excited to have this exclusive podcast from him.

Today, he joins the NUDE Techno podcast, with an hour of Techno. Listen to it below on SoundCloud & Mixcloud. If you are feeling this series, then please consider supporting it on Mixcloud Select.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Let me take you for a ride into the unknown

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
There are a handful of current faves in this mix but, I’d have to say my track ‘Strange Pulse’ which is part of my recently released EP on Respekt Recordings.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
A blend of darkness and high energy is sure to piss off your neighbours if played loud enough.

Tell us about your next EP?
Aside from the ‘Psalm 39’ EP on 1605 which just came out a couple of weeks ago, I have a track forthcoming on Riot Recordings as part of the Rave The Planet series which helps fund the next Love Parade in Germany next year.

What have you got coming up?
Lots of show dates in the pipeline and a very exciting collab in the works with an absolute legend of the game! I just finished a remix for Balthazar & JackRock’s label, Renesanz. And of course, new solo works from myself.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Thank you all for the continued support throughout this journey! Be sure to grab your copy of my new EP Psalm 39 on 1605, the title track is currently at #3 today on Beatport. Enjoy the mix and much love everyone!

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
