Yaya & Jholeyson combine on their ‘La Combinacion’ EP

Share

Tamango Records frontman Yaya joins forces with rising Colombian talent Jholeyson, delivering a striking two-track collaboration EP – ‘La Combinacion’.

Bringing his African ethnic roots together with his fine Italian taste, Yaya is undoubtedly one of the hottest names in the scene. During the years, he has moulded his unique sound, as well as creating and coordinating the largely popular Tamango Records. Yaya is also famous for being a prolific producer, with vinyl and digital releases on labels such as Cadenza, Be As One, Kina Music, Etruria Beat, AdMaiora, Earlydub, Monologue, OODOO and many more.

Jholeyson debuted as a DJ in Colombia in 2012, and moved to production in 2015, developing a musical style composed of local influences and inspired by Latin rhythms and sounds from genres such as reggae, hip-hop and salsa, all with strong scenes in Latin America. His growth has been exponential in a short time, with collabs with the likes of Max Chapman on labels like Hot Creations, Elrow and Solid Grooves.

“We made these two tracks in between shows during my tour around Jholeyson’s country: Colombia. They will always remind me of the good times I had there and I hope you enjoy them as much as we do” – Yaya

“I’m very excited about this new EP, a very nice collaboration with Yaya, a great ‘Combinaciòn'” – Jholeyson

Opening with the title track, ‘La Combinacion’, the release kicks straight in with a rampant bed of percussive sustenance and drive. Heft rolling drums meet a charming exotic vocal, whilst a balance of light and gritty melodic elements pull you from left to right – keeping you in a swaying cadence. ‘Costa Rica’ completes the duo with a tougher edge. Big tribal drums undulate boisterously through a forest of rippling percussion and sizzling hat grooves, as its robust underbelly of low-frequency layers creates swing and movement. Its Latin-inspired vocal cuts and ad-libs add the final elegant touches, making it another relentless dancefloor jam.

We premiere ‘La Combinacion’ on Data Transmission today, check it out here and grab it on Beatport.
