Omar Souleyman Preps Album For Monkeytown

Bahdeni Nami-1

What do you get if you cross internationally renowned Syrian singer Omar Souleyman with Modeselektor, Four Tet, Gilles Peterson and Legowelt? Well apart from a very excited DT office (we’re an excitable bunch, we know…) the answer would be a new album titled Bahdeni Nami.

Set to arrive July 24via Modeselektor’s Berlin based imprint Monkeytown Records, the seven track effort was recorded in Istanbul and also features traditional accompaniment from longtime collaborators, including the poet Ahmad Alsamer, saxophonist Khaled Youssef, and keyboard player Rizan Said. Interested? We thought you might be.
