Mix Of The Day: Bontan

All good things must come to an end. Life very rarely throws up clichés as over worn and as weary as this one but as with all things played to death, it’s done so for a reason. As the Southport Weekender nears the end of its 28 year run at the forefront of the UK’s vibrant festival scene, those eight words have a melancholy spin of huge gravitas, as one of our favourite gatherings dims the lights on what has been a remarkable journey.

The goodbyes started back in March when the news first veered on the horizon, beginning the mad scramble for tickets as returning festival goers and would be attendees plan for one last pilgrimage to Minehead to experience the 52nd weekender as it goes out in a blaze of glory May 8-10th.

So to get us in the mood for this years celebration we’ve hooked up with the Southport Weekender to secure an exclusive mix from meteorically rising house upstart Bontan ahead of his much anticipated appearance at this years event. With a far-reaching skill set disproportionate to his age, we’ve long thought  it was only a matter of time before Botan – alongside frequent collaborator Josh Butler – rose to the very top and with their new collaborative single ‘Live My Life’ about to drop we think that time is now.

Offering up just under an hour of choice cuts for you to wrap your ears around, this was just the tonic we needed to kickstart our week. Check it out.
