Meet The Future: Moving Speakers…

Know that feeling when it’s peak night, and a track changes, and it’s all so electric you swear you can feel the room moving?

Bad news for the paranoid. Now, it totally is.

Amsterdam based 4DSound, in association with Ableton Live have created a moving speaker array so that the dynamics of sound in a venue change over time. The possibilities are endless – both in cutting edge venues around the world where moving installations will actually change the entire shape of an artist’s output, creating some kind of crazed visuals-and-audio blurring effect, and in your local, where DJs will try to adapt to the times by dropping kicking the monitor into the crowd to “up the buzz a bit.”

At any rate it’s got Stimming all hot in the booth – he’s currently putting together a live act, combining 4DSound’s concept with some seriously eye popping Ableton Live trickery. Check out the vid here:

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
