Martinez Brothers Give Away Hip Hop EP

A few months ago we caught up Chris and Steve Martinez aka The Martinez Brothers and the two young men from the Bronx, raised on their father’s love of the music and stories of the Paradise Garage told us they had big plans for 2013. Since then they’ve announced that they are to embark on a new residency series in their native city where naturally they feel lots of love, dropped one of the biggest tracks of the year in the remix of Green Velvet’s ‘Bigger Than Prince’ and played gigs around the world at the coolestvenues from Panorama Bar to Circo Loco at DC10  to further hone their abilities behind the decks.

Now the two young men are have embarked on a new project in another genre born out of the Big Apple with a series of hip-hop productions. Entitled ‘WARHOL*BASQUIAT’ their first EP keeps things jazzy with heavy use of samples and chopped up soul vocals reminiscent of Madlib which I think we can all agree with no offence to Lil’ John, is the type of hip hop we prefer here at DT.
