Magic Door celebrates its 5th birthday

One of our favourite crazy, magical parties, Magic Door in Birmingham are turning 5 years old on Friday 6th October at Lab 11!

Over the years, the party has grown from a 150 capacity back room of a pub to hosting regular events attracting 1000 to 2000 glittery faces in both Birmingham and London, whilst also making regular appearances at some of Europe’s most discerning festivals, including Croatia based The Garden Festival and Love International, and the UK-homed Gottwood, Lunar and Eastern Electrics.

We went to the check out the last one (check out the review here) and see what it was all about including their creative production and some great residents including Maxxi Soundsytem, Mr Doris, Jukes of Hazard and Deano Ferrino.  Magic Door always has secret guest DJs only revealed on the night.

Co-founder Jit Coulter-Patel explains: “It’s a pretty amazing to hit the 5-year mark after making an decision with the rest of the team when we first started Magic Door to never celebrate our birthday unless we made it to 5 years. We always said to ourselves if we ever got this far then we would celebrate our half-decade in considerable style, and this is exactly what we are going to do! So basically we are pulling out all of the stops but on a much bigger level than normal – we always pride ourselves on making each new party we do our best yet, so this really is going to be special. There will be next level production, lots of secret special guests joining our residents, and everyone everything will be getting another level glittery!”

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
