Kirk Degiorgio Readies SambaTek
Veteran UK techno producer Kirk Degiorgio has revealed details of a new samba infused techno album which is set to drop this September. Billed as a “a collision of traditional Brazilian percussion tracks and state-of-the-art techno” we think Kirk is certainly on to something as more and more DJ’s and producers emerge from Latin America onto the global stage and bring that samba flair to their material and performances.
Entitled ‘SambaTek’ and set for release via Far Out Recordings it is the second time Degiorgio has teamed up with the imprint for a Latin infused release with the label releasing his collaborative work with with Brazilian funk legends Azymuth back in the early noughties. It is this love for that South American musical culture which has inspired this latest work as Kirk explains “SambaTek was a wonderful opportunity for me to work with Far Out Recordings and explore the label’s deep Brazilian connections. I’ve always loved Brazilian rhythms, from heavy batucada breakdowns to gentle melancholy sambas.”
The upcoming LP features eight fresh cuts alongside four remixes from Rick Wilhite, Jonas Kopp, NX1 and Spatial before Degiorgio takes the album on tour with a host of performances incorporating live drumming planned. Sounds good to us Kirk!
