Jacques Greene Gives Away The Weekend Bootleg

If you ask a lot of traveling DJ’s where the most vibrant scenes are emerging from places they played a sizeable number might well tell you Montreal has a lot going on right now. Slightly more underground and niche than the North American hotspot Toronto the French speaking city certainly has a fair bit to be proud of in the electronica stakes. One of the new wave of stars emanating from the city is Jacques Greene who has been on the radar for the more discerning electronic music fan since releasing on Glasgow’s Lucky Me and London’s acclaimed Night Slugs back in 2010 when he showcased his talent for infusing a garage swing into a style firmly rooted in classic sounding Chicago house with piercing acid stabs and the occasional nod to less mainstream R&B.

A lot has happened since then, including remixing Radiohead, unveiling a new live show and a series of well received releases in addition to conducting a heavy global tour schedule for DJ sets around the world. It’s the earlier period of his rise through the ranks he’s revisitng today though with the giveaway of his 2011 bootleg of the similarly fast rising at the time The Weekend’s ‘What You Need”.  Grab your copy below!
