More big drum and bass news this week as pioneer, graffiti artist, drum ‘n’ bass icon, DJ, actor, producer and Metalheadz label boss Goldie has been revealed as the next artist to helm an edition of Ministry of Sound’s ongoing Masterpiece mix compilation series. Following on from expertly crafted mixes from the likes of Detroit legend Carl Craig and French veteran François K we couldn’t think of a more suitable standard bearer to take up the  Masterpiece mantle on behalf of the resurgent drum and bass scene.

As with previous incarnations of the Masterpiece series, Goldie’s release will be separated into three different discs; entitled The Alpha, Journeyman, and Headzville. Promising to feature cuts from the likes of Soul II Soul and Terry Callier The Alpha disc serves to highlight some of inspirations behind Goldie’s earlier works whilst Journeyman seeks to shine a spotlight on a more classic Goldie sound before Headzville rounds of proceedings with a journey through Metalheadz vast back catalog with efforts from the likes of dBridgeCommixJubei.

Following on from last years excellent The Alchemist: The Best of Goldie 1992-2012 we’ve got high hopes for his installment of the Masterpiece series when it lands on August 18. Keep it locked here for more details as they come in.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
