Most artists know something is stuck. They just do not always know what.
That is the thinking behind Artist Accelerator, a free new tool built to help DJs and electronic music producers work out where they are in their artist career, what is holding them back, and what needs fixing next.
The tool gives artists an Artist Career Score, highlights their current stage, identifies key areas for development and offers a preview of a 12-month artist plan.
It is not another vague “work harder” checklist. It is aimed at the messy middle, where a lot of modern artists actually live. The place between making better music, trying to post content, chasing gigs, sending demos, building a profile and wondering why nothing quite connects yet.
Data from 812 completed Artist Accelerator plans already points to a clear issue. 50.1% of artists are in the Building Momentum stage, sitting between beginner and established. 53.4% identify as hybrid DJ/producers, while only 3.4% have 40 or more hours per week available for music.
That tells its own story.
Most artists are not short of effort. They are short of structure. The modern artist career has become fragmented. You are expected to make records, build an audience, understand platforms, pitch labels, create content, grow relationships and prove demand before many doors open.
That is where the bigger announcement comes in.

Toolroom Academy and The Artist Blueprint, created by Data Transmission founder Grahame Farmer, have joined forces to launch an expanded 12-month artist development programme for DJs and electronic music producers.
The new programme brings together Toolroom Academy’s production education, A&R knowledge and industry network with The Artist Blueprint’s work across audience growth, releases, branding, content and long-term career development.
It also builds on Toolroom Academy’s existing partnership with Voltage Circus, bringing The Artist Blueprint into the collaboration as a third partner.
The aim is simple enough. Help artists connect the music to the career around it.
Making good music is still the foundation. Always has been. But once the records start improving, the next questions arrive quickly. Who is going to hear it? Which labels make sense? How do you build attention between releases? How do you turn one good track into actual movement?
The expanded Artist Blueprint programme has been rebuilt around those questions, with individual learning pathways, three one-to-one review calls across the year, expanded group calls, guest sessions and updated modules covering releases, branding, demos, social media, content, audience growth and career planning.
The programme will also launch inside GRIDD, a new platform designed by Grahame Farmer to help artists move beyond simply watching lessons. GRIDD is being built around structured learning paths, goal tracking, release planning, tasks, implementation prompts and progress tracking across different areas of an artist career.
Over time, AI will also be added to help students move through the curriculum in a more personal way. Not replacing human feedback, A&R understanding or real-world industry support, but helping artists find the right next step faster.
“Modern artists need more than production education. They need help connecting the music to the career around it: the audience, the releases, the content, the relationships and the direction. That is what this partnership is about. Toolroom Academy brings the production education, A&R experience and industry network. The Artist Blueprint brings the career development system. Together, we can give DJs and producers a more complete path from making music to building a serious artist project.”
Grahame Farmer said:
“Modern artists need support across every aspect of their journey, from the music itself through to audience growth, releases, branding and long-term career development. Together, we’re creating a pathway that connects all of those pieces and gives artists the structure, guidance and support they need to build real momentum.”
Pete Griffiths, Creative Director at Toolroom Academy, added:
For producers trying to finish better music, DJs trying to move beyond local bookings, hybrid artists juggling both, and late-night grafters trying to make sense of the whole thing, this feels like a useful step.
