In exciting album news Cologne’s Kompakt Records  announced that the label would be releasing the fourth full studio album of The Field at the end of September. Entitled ‘Cupid’s Head’ it is the first solo recording of The Field, real name Axel Willner since his debut LP and the first to be made completely using hardware with no computers involved in its production.

Billed as exploring a darker set of themes at a slower pace than Axel’s previous work under his The Field moniker it appears that Cupid’s Head has taken inspiration from many of his various side projects such as Of Your Heart and Black Fog and came after a short bout of writers block as Axel explains “When I started to work on “Cupid’s Head“ it was quite awkward. I felt that I had nothing to put into a new album and I´m not the type to sit down and force something out in the studio… But then, after a few modest attempts, I got a first loop together and running which turned out (in a short time) to be “No.No…“. It was a revelation of sorts as making it felt new to me, and different, and that’s when it all came out.”

So with the album about to drop Kompakt and The Field have seen fit to share the LP with which you can check out in the player below. Consider us more than a little excited…

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
