Exclusive Premiere: Michael Forrest – Infinite London (Chik Budo Remix)

It’s Friday and after a long week a work, with the agonizing wait until payday at the end of the month we’re in the mood to go out for the weekend and blow off a little steam.  So with plans of friend assisted shenanigans over the next two nights already running through our head we thought we’d stop short of dropping you into the deep end with some four to the floor madness and present you with a nice little bubbler to perk you up for what is sure to seem like a long afternoon.

Who have we entrusted with such a task? Someone who if not already on your radar should be in the near future in multi-instrumental production wizard Michael Forrest.  The innovative producer has hooked up with us here at DT for the grand unveiling of his track ‘Infinite London’ s rework from fellow rising stars Chik Budo complete with trademark sax appeal to celebrate the release of his app based album earlier in the month.

An app based album? What is that? we hear you cry, well wonder no more as we’ve got the skinny on how it works so here it is: Instead of releasing this music as fixed recording, Forrest composes musical structures in code and chance, creating a listening experience that is different every time. This form of musical expression, never feasible as a release format before the age of smart phones, moves into worlds first explored by Brian Eno and Bjork – Forrest’s work here proves that there is still much to be discovered.

The app itself allows listeners to influence the music, as well as to save and share their favourite moments – moments that would otherwise be lost forever in the infinite possibilities. Anybody who doesn’t have a supported smart phone or tablet can hear one possible route through the album as a 60 minute mix on SoundCloud.
