Exclusive Album Premiere: Ena – Binaural

One of the most exciting new additions to the prestigious Samurai Music roster, Tokyo’s Ena has crafted a sound entirely his own, opening doors into dark, experimental planes of music. A major player on the Japanese underground scene for over a decade, his forward-thinking productions, for the likes of 7even RecordingsSamurai Horo and CX:Digital, permeate the edges of drum & bass, becoming something undefinable.

Today’s premiere, Binaural, is the second full-length solo effort from Ena, and also claims the title of first artist album on Samurai’s Horo imprint – a breeding ground of innovative producers such as ASCFIS and Sam KDC. Promising to move further into “uncharted sonic and rhythmic territory,” the album offers harsh textures and grim, organic beats, often put together with found sounds. In a interesting and unique move, the tracklist for the CD and digital release (which we have here) is completely different from that of the vinyl 2×12″ LP.

Binaural is set for release November 10th, stream the album in full below and pre-order your copy via the Samurai website. Plus don’t forget to check out our Mix of the Day from Ena too!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
