Doge Records Preview DOGE001

Internet memes. We’ve all seen them.  Once funny but now tragic comic offerings from your least amusing mate on social media who still laughs at pictures of Willy Wonka with an unoriginal observation beneath.

But what if a meme could still be something innovative and interesting? Fat chance! We hear you doubting Thomas’ cry. Well let us change your mind with the example of meme-cum-record label Doge Records. Starting life as little more than an image of a dog with words underneath the loveable scamp has come to be face of the newly incepted London imprint Doge Records and grabbed our attention with a very ambitious opening gambit by an as yet undisclosed artist. Yes, it’s all still a bit cloak and dagger with a firm emphasis placed on being ‘mysterious’ but don’t let any whiffs of pretension put you off: this is high quality music.

Out May 16th as a limited run on vinyl we suggest grabbing your copy as and when you can as DOGE001 with it’s nods to classic era house from both New York and Chicago looks to be arguably this months hottest single release.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
