There are few outfits within electronic music spoken about in such hushed and revered tones as Detroit’s Underground Resistance. Such was the influence of the politically charged collective of techno innovators to the scene that over two decades on its members and former members still continue to have a considerable impact. Thus when the likes of Messrs Mills, Hood, Banks and Rolando speak we tend to listen.
We’re pleased to report that the Edinburgh based DJ Rolando has announced the formation of a new imprint entitled Roland Rocha Records or R3 for short. Currently working out of Scotland the veteran has launched the new label with the distinct aim of giving himself the “artistic freedom to put music out in the right context, with the right timing, and to maintain the ultimate control of his own work.”
Naturally the labels opening gambit is from Rolando himself in the form of the 3 track Juu EP with offers new cuts Juu, Non and Time Adjustment. Scheduled to arrive April 28th we’re expecting big things on the techno front from R3 so are looking forward to checking out the EP in full when it lands later this month.
