Another collaborative project by the sadly departed Martin Dawson, this time with electronic duo Catz N Dogz will be making its way into our playlists this summer as the Polish pairing confirmed they would be making the joint ventures efforts available via their own eponymous imprint as a free download on June 3rd.

The album was written and recorded shortly before Martin’s tragic death last November after he met Catz N Dogz and they “connected instantly”, quickly deciding to form a new project together as Different Marks.  The tracks quickly formed a personality of their own and with star turns from further collaborators such as Glimpse and Ben Westbeech among others the project quickly established its potential.

Voitek Tarañczuk of Catz N  Dogz looks back on the collaboration fondly stating “This whole world, an unexplored territory, had opened up to us; one that seemed, on one hand, ultimately familiar, and on the other, totally new… Working on this project became addictive, and for those few months we put everything else on hold (even giving up writing our solo albums and EPs) because being in this small studio, together, meant the world to us.” Thus with such a gravitas behind the music and personal meaning it seems a fitting tribute to Martin that such an album be made available for public consumption gratis. Gone but not forgotten.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
