With its 15th anniversary just over the horizon few independent labels can claim to have consistently operated at the same level as Defected Records, due in no small part to the drive, determination and A&R work of its owner and founder Simon Dunmore. Now, as it prepares to embark on another Ibiza residency at two new venues while continuing to work with a host of different names from the scene Defected have decided to give their brand an overhaul in light of the developments being made for the upcoming season and beyond.

As Simon explains “Defected in 2013 is a completely different proposition from the record label we started in 1999 and We wanted to recognise this by giving our branding a complete overhaul, a new contemporary look that also had to acknowledge our history.”

The contemporary new look for 2013 has been masterminded by the acclaimed artist and producer Trevor Jackson and for Dunmore there was nobody better suited for the job with the founder stating “Trevor Jackson is an outstanding creative and his understanding of dance culture has enabled him to achieve this and deliver the design requirements of a contemporary label. I am ecstatic with the results.”

With two new big residencies in Ibiza already announced and more releases on the way these might just be the most exciting times for Defected yet…

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
