Debut Transmission: Aki Bergen & Richter – South Point

Italy. Home of in no particular order; the Roman Empire, Dionysian orgies, Temples devoted to alcohol, Silvio Berlusconi and most notably – for us at least – stonkingly good electronic music. Yes, there’s no doubt about it, the Italian music scene is enjoying a purple patch at the moment and with today’s premiere we feel we’re very much in the right place at the right time, chancing upon a pair of artists at the peak of their powers as Aki Bergen & Richter prep their new four track Nights & Days EP for their esteemed Neurotraxx imprint.

Having seriously impressed on their debut outing as a duo earlier in the year, the pairing are upping the ante again with their second release, serving up a smorgasbord of sound that’s guaranteed to warm even the coldest of hearts this winter.

Data Transmission’s favourite cut from the record, ‘South Point’, is a perfect example of Aki Bergen & Richter’s deep compositional style. A retrofitted slice of sonic futurism, the final number of the release rounds out the EP in some style,  juxtaposing robust percussion with hypnotic chords for a track that is as powerful as it is challenging.
