Debut Transmission: Jimi After – Acid Walk

Smile Recordings present a new rooster in their hen house: Jimi After, another one of Brussels’ own. He has released on Turbo, Freerange, Correspondant, and Throne Of Blood a.o., partly under the moniker Homerun.

Jimi After’s sound embodies the history of electronic music. There’s the soundtrack of Bladerunner and arthouse electronics from Düsseldorf. You can hear Chicago, Detroit and the Balearics, New Beat and EBM, Hacienda and Paradise Garage, all in one homogeneous sound. That’s not what makes it so powerfully addictive though, it’s that it all feels so effortless, and most of all genuine. These are no tricks from a textbook, this is the real deal and that’s blatantly obvious.

Our Debut Transmission today is Acid Walk is a slow shugger and devious little fu**er that’ll blast right through walls of concrete and steel with a determination second to none.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
