Deadmau5 Announces ‘Free’ Miami Show

A few weeks ago we reported that Deadmau5 was back on Twitter and that he was already embroiled in a war of words with a fellow artist. This time it wasn’t an international pop star that was the source of his ire but fellow DJ and producer Porter Robinson. The reasoning for his online scorn? Miami.

Electronic music gossip followers may recall Deadmau5 slamming about the increasingly controversial Miami nightspot Mansion (the club which disgracefully kicked both Dennis Ferrer and DJ Shadow off the decks mid-set) after making a stop their for his ‘Unhooked’ North American tour. After what we can only assume was less than a stellar night for Joel at the establishment he told fans on his new live site that “Putting fans in the back and trust fund kids up front is fucking stupid as fuck,” after VIPs texting in the front row raised his blood pressure before pledging that he “won’t be playing any more Miami clubs.” 

Several days later with fast rising production prodigy Porter Robinson  due to hit Miami  at South Beach institution Story, the 21-year-old tweeted, that the venue was one his favorite-sounding clubs, and he’s enjoyed making visits there over his career thus far.  A fan then tweeted the pair quoting Deadmau5’s recent Miami experience and it didn’t take long for Joel to then respond online with trademark Deadmau5 twitter fare, the Canadian seemingly riled by the youngsters funnier, more measured responses and beginning to lose his temper before Dillon Francis stepped in to suggest the pair settle their differences on a Coffee Run. 

Then Space Miami, waded into the debate agreeing that  the Mau5 has made some valid points about certain questionable practices employed by their competitors in the city but that shouldn’t be used as a true reflection of Miami. To further prove their point Space then offered to throw open its doors and host a free party for Deadmau5 fans to come and see him perform as “he intended” with a expenses bill of up to 25k to perform at the club to which Deadmau5 has now seemingly turned is back on whilst confirming another gig in the city at the 6000-capacity Ice Palace Studios.

Whilst billed as a free show, tickets are priced at $1 with all proceeds generously being donated to Miami’s Children Hospital. Tickets go on sale today and can be found here.
