Insomniac, the organizers of successful international festival series, the Electric Daisy Carnival have confirmed that plans to host an award ceremony  solely for electronic music artists and events is underway as they’ve teamed up with Dick Clark; the production company behind Hollywood  A lister event the Golden Globes.

According to insomniac the new awards will not just focus on the commercial popular side of dance music and will encompass all aspects of the scene including its various genres, art, and stage production and lighting.

It seems a shrewd move by Insomniac  with dance music  garnering plenty of attention at Grammys and Billboard awards amongst other shows in recent times but electronic music is as of yet to have a televised example of a show dedicated to it entirely. The inaugural incarnation of the as yet unnamed awards shows will premiere next year during EDC Las Vegas.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
