Cut Face share ‘Upgrade (Body Hook Remix)’ ahead of UK live debut

Anglo-French electronic duo Cut Face have released ‘Upgrade (Body Hook Remix)’, a rework of their spring single by one half of the pair. It lands five days before their first London show. The duo will open for producer and DJ 1-800 GIRLS at Village Underground, after the headliner invited them onto the bill.

Cut Face brings together French producer Body Hook and British vocalist Tacita Grace. Body Hook has previously picked up support from Four Tet, Special Request, and Annie Mac. Grace, meanwhile, is classically trained and came up through the UK Drum & Bass scene. Based in Toulouse, the pair move between garage, jungle, darkwave, and punk. Their stated reference points include the raw breakbeats of The Prodigy, the cold precision of New Order, and the punk energy of IDLES. They build everything on older hardware, with a deliberately DIY approach to production.

The original ‘Upgrade’ arrived ahead of the duo’s debut EP. At the time, Grace was direct about its subject matter. “‘Upgrade’ is a pure plunge into drugs and partying to forget, accepting numbness as the escape.” On the remix, Body Hook strips back the original’s restraint and pushes further into its darker side. He describes the process as “a slightly schizophrenic exercise.” In earlier comments on the Cut Face sound, he called it “a brutal yet atmospheric vision, still underpinned by music that really hits you in the body.”

That debut EP, ‘You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice’, runs to five linked tracks. Across them, the duo work through chaos, pain, and acceptance, touching on toxic relationships, self-destruction, and how fleeting experience can be. The EP picked up radio play on BBC 6 Music, KEXP, and KCRW, alongside coverage from DMC World Magazine, DMY, and Loud Women. Steve Lamacq called the music “like a game of hopscotch through advancing dance genres”. DMC World Magazine described it as “a brutal yet atmospheric collision of garage, jungle, and darkwave”, while Loud Women singled out Tacita Grace’s voice, saying it “evokes fuzzy images of swimming with the current at a warehouse party”. Jungle producer Tim Reaper has since remixed ‘Those Sundays’.

‘Upgrade’ was first released on 24th April 2026, with ‘You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice’ following on 22nd May 2026. ‘Upgrade (Body Hook Remix)’ is out now, released on 25th September 2026. Cut Face then make their UK live debut on Wednesday 30th September 2026 at Village Underground in Shoreditch, supporting 1-800 GIRLS. According to the venue, the headline set is 1-800 GIRLS’ only London live show of 2026, arriving ahead of their debut album ‘Love’. Their music has previously featured on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, and Mixmag.
