We love Jeff Mills here at DT. One of the music industrys truly unique individuals we can’t really thank the motor city innovator enough for his contributions towards electronic music. But how did the man from Detroit with a deep fascination with space who was profoundly influenced by the wonders of our solar system become the wizard behind the decks we know him today? Well with the techno icon continuing his affair with science fiction as the subject of a new film entitled Man From Tomorrow we’re pleased to be able to share a new video of a young Jeff DJing at Detroit Nightspot Cheeks back in 1983.

Check out the video which is as the uploader describes it below:

“1983 DENNIS (JEFFS BROTHER) AND I WORKED AT OMNICOM CABLE IN PRODUCTION JEFF WAS JUST TAKING OFF AT THE CLUBS JEFF WOULD WORK PART TIME AT THE CABLE CO FIXING THINGS ON THE BENCH (SMARTER THAN THE REST) AND WJLB AT NIGHT THIS WAS SHOT AT CHEEKS NIGHTCLUB. ON EIGHT MILE IN DETROIT DENNIS AND JEFF WERE ALWAYS GREAT GUYS!”

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
