After all the mystery, the hype and even a neon blimp, here it is: the first track from Aphex Twin’s new album Syro.

‘minipops 67 [120.2][source field mix]’ presents a rather easy going beat, but in typical Aphex Twin style it twists and shifts constantly throughout the duration. Following the badly translated/enigma code/nonsense promo we were given with the album’s announcement, the info for this track tells us: “”This is the first Aphex Twin dong fore 13 years between the publication of the first a formal music.”

‘minipops 67 [120.2][source field mix]’ is out now via Warp. Those of you who have preordered Syro on iTunes or Bleep, can log in to your account now, to download the track ahead of the album’s full release later this month.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
