30 Shades Of Marc Romboy

When we heard Marc Romboy was hooking up with prolific Japanese techno producer Ken Ishii we took more than a casual interest here at DT to see what the pair could come up with together whilst on different sides of the globe with such differing styles. The results of the ‘Taiyo’ project were impressive and they went on to make quite a splash in the months following the release whilst impressing dancefloors as they played a series of dates together.

Now Marc has announced that he will be following up that collaborative album with a 3 disc retrospective of his work entitled Shades which will be released through Systematic Recordings this March.

Featuring over 30 tracks, including original cuts, remixes and no less than nine new tracks, Shades is undoubtedly the most comprehensive account of the German’s career thus far. Popular  collaborative number such as ‘Lost’, ‘Delusion Of The Enemy’ and ‘Eurasia’ all make an appearance with Marc keen to show off the variety of his back catalogue as he explains: “With Shades I wanted to underline the different ways I make music… I just follow my feelings in the studio and don’t think of any style, category or what other people would think about it. This is not easy for people who need categories, but this is me and I only release stuff under my own real name.”

The first disc is described as “deep groovy and soulful,” whilst the second reportedly follows a more “melodic, trippy and warm” vibe before the final disc sees him explore “noise, machine rhythms and crazy sounds.”

Sounds good to us Marc!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
